How Does Rangers Protocol Secure Its Blockchain Solution?

Security is paramount to blockchains and how they operate. A blockchain with an essentially impenetrable security structure could prevent hacks from happening and safeguard the on-chain assets from being stolen, duplicated, or destroyed. Rangers Protocol, the next-generation Web3 Engine for creating immersive Web3 applications, has also leveraged its technical expertise and taken measures to secure its blockchain and cross-chain solutions.

Simply put, the high security of Rangers Protocol is achieved through its VRF+BLS mechanism employed by Rangers Mainnet, which improves the system’s stability and randomness, and enables a clear role division of the ecological nodes. On top of that, Rangers Connector also outputs a consensus that can be verified by other chains, effectively avoiding cross-chain security issues and ensuring the overall safety of the Rangers Protocol network.

Building security with a unique consensus mechanism.

The VRF, or Verifiable Random Function, is an algorithm for generating random numbers, which allows for low power consumption, fast and efficient verification of legitimacy, and, most of all, a totally random, unpredictable, and transparent selection of proposal nodes and verification groups. The periodic CheckPoint mechanism also helps to ensure that the block data is “final” and cannot be changed, thereby eliminating problems such as long-range attacks and private mining.

The group chain model of Rangers Protocol, on the other hand, reduces malicious behaviors through group inspection and group creation, both of which are facilitated by the decentralized SSS (Shamir secret sharing) algorithm as well as the Verification Group Signature Mechanism supported by the BLS algorithm. The model allows group signature to be completed without revealing the private key, so that the group member’s signature private key can be continuously reused. From the perspectives of communication complexity, signature length, and capability, the BLS algorithm applied by this group chain model is believed to outcompete the Byzantine fault-tolerant algorithm and carries out a more robust performance in securing blockchain safety.

Reinforcing security by dividing ecological nodes into verification and proposal nodes.

Using the above VRF+BLS mechanism, Rangers Protocol is able to further divide the on-chain ecological nodes into two categories, namely the verification nodes and the proposal nodes. The proposal nodes mainly package transactions, generate candidate blocks, and submit them to the corresponding verification group, whereas the verification nodes, randomly grouped, are responsible for confirming the legitimacy of the generated candidate block through group cooperation. Such a clear role division dramatically reduces the possibility of deliberate foul play. And with parameters for new ecological node applications being established, potential risks is significantly lowered as well.

Strengthening cross-chain security with innovative relay chain technology.

In terms of the cross-chain solution, the distributed signature technology and the Secure Multi-Party Computation technology used by Rangers Connector to support its VRF+TSS consensus mechanism help preserve cross-chain data completely. By incorporating an innovative relay chain technology that is the best in the field, and using a double guarantee mechanism of the relay chain and the smart contract, the decentralization and cross-chain security to achieve decentralization and cross-chain security are assured.

Security has always been an inherent quality of blockchain ever since its debut in 2008. And even though the growing volume and popularity of the technology has attracted an increasing number of malicious attacks exploiting the vulnerabilities of every network possible, this primary advantage as well as the very essence of blockchain technology should never be overlooked nor compromised. Rangers Protocol will continue to dedicate itself to maintaining and improving the reliability of the entire ecosystem, and make high security a long-standing pledge for all developers and users that wish for a safer experience in the Web3 world.
